In a shocking turn of events, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir engaged in a heated argument after the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday.
The
argument reportedly started after the match when both teams were shaking hands
with each other. According to eyewitnesses, Kohli and Gambhir had a verbal spat
that quickly escalated into a heated argument.
It
is believed that the argument was sparked by a few on-field incidents during
the match, including an altercation between Kohli and LSG's Afgani bowler
Naveen-Ul -Haq. Gambhir, who is the coach of LSG, was reportedly upset with
Kohli's behaviour on the field.
The
argument continued for several seconds and was only stopped after the team
officials intervened. Both players were seen walking away from each other in
opposite directions, visibly upset.
The
incident has shocked the cricketing world, as Kohli and Gambhir have had a
long-standing rivalry on and off the field. The two have previously clashed few
years ago.
The
incident has also sparked a debate among cricket fans and experts, with many
expressing their disappointment at the behavior of both players. Some have even
called for disciplinary action against both players.
As
of now, both have been fined 100 percent of their match fees for a level 2 breach
of the IPL Code of Conduct. Meanwhile, Afghani pacer was fined with 50 percent of match fee for a
level 1 breach of the IPL Code of Conduct
